When you or a loved one is facing a chronic end-of-life illness, you should not have to go through it alone. We offer a team of highly trained physicians, nurses, CNAs, social workers, chaplains and volunteers to ease the physical discomfort and emotional stress. Let us help take some of the weight and obligation off of your shoulders. We want our patients, their family and caregivers to make memories that can matter for a lifetime.
Hospice of Pamlico County was started February 25, 1984, as an all-volunteer non-profit agency. We began offering full home hospice care with Medicare certification on 2007and began Medicaid services in 2016. We are a non-profit 501 (C) (3) provider of end-of-life care and support services for patients, their families and caregivers. Patients of any age who are facing a life-limiting illness may qualify for specialized medical, emotional and spiritual care through our services. Our hospice team will come to you, wherever you call home. Under the directions of a primary physician, our team will develop a detailed comprehensive place to best provide comfort and emotional support to patients and the families and caregivers.
Mission Statement
Hospice of Pamlico County strives to help meet current and emerging human care needs in our service areas; by working with community members, various groups and volunteers in addition to utilizing every resource efficiently and effectively. We are very proud to say that we provide services regardless of a patient's insurance coverage. Costs are reimbursed from Medicare, Medicaid or other insurance benefits and deductibles and co-pays are waived. The same quality of care is delivered regardless of the patient's insurance coverage. Our aim is to provide the highest quality for our patients to have dignity, grace and fullness of life every day.
Hospice of Pamlico County services the needs of terminally ill patients and their families in Pamlico, Beaufort, and Craven Counties. Our team is comprised of professionals and local volunteers. Our medical staff is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are here for patients with life-limiting illnesses regardless of the patient's insurance coverage. When a doctor determines a life expectancy of six months or less, a patient or family member may request hospice care. Hospice care doesn't end if you live longer than six months. There is no absolute criteria to qualify for hospice care. We offer free bereavement service for hospice families the year following the loved one's death as we as offering bereavement services to our community.
